10/30 [news] SS501 “Overseas Fans Support, Thank you”

Group SS501 smiled at the passionate support from overseas visiting fans.

About 100 SS501 fans from Japan, China, Taiwan, etc were here to follow all of SS501’s schedules for one week, expressing their love for them. SS501’s Kim HyungJoon said “Many fans from overseas were here to follow us on our various schedules. It has been over a week since we started our activities in Korea, but these overseas fans have not returned back home and are still around to support us. I am touched by their passionate support and love everyday.”

SS501 appeared in music program ‘Kim JungEun’s Chocolate’ recently at SBS Open Hall in DeungChon-dong, Seoul. There were about 300 overseas fans on this day’s recording.

Among SS501’s overseas fans, there were over 10 fans who stayed overnight 2 days prior to the recordings, at the broadcasting station in order to get the best seats for ‘Chocolate’ recording. About 100 fans weren’t able to get the tickets, so couldn’t get in for the recording, however they still waited at the venue till 11 am in order to catch a glimpse of SS501 going out.

SS501’s company representative said “Overseas fans came over to Korea to support SS501’s comeback activities. They stayed 1 week or more in Korea, and gave their support to SS501 for their broadcast activities. They also prepared health products in view of members’ health, and snacks like chocolates, cookies and sandwiches. We really appreciate their passion and love.”

SS501 has recently released an album and is promoting their title song ‘Love Like This’.

Court rules partial provisional disposition of exclusive

The court has gave out the final ruling on the lawsuit between the 3 members of Dong Bang Shin Ki and SM Entertainment.
Seoul Central Court revealed on 27th October a citation of their ruling for the lawsuit between the SM Entertainment and TVXQ Hero JaeJoong, Xiah JunSu and Micky YooChun.
It was revealed, “We see that part of the terms in their contract has much destroyed the good morals of the whole contract. SM Entertainment should not interfere with its singers’ independent unique activities and also contract to perform and other entertainment activities.”

Previously in July, the 3 members of Dong Bang Shin Ki has revealed their 13-year long contract under SM Entertainment, which meant that they will possibly be working under SM Entertainment for life, and has applied for the effect of provisional disposition of the terms in their contract. And the 2 parties have engaged in a lawsuit as SM Entertainment insist that the terms under their contract are reasonable.
The court also revealed, “Through the individual agreement, there is high possibility for group activities to continue, but for the provisional disposition of the existing activities and the profit allocation, it is invalid and difficult. We will have to dismiss the application for the full provisional disposition of the effects of the exclusive belonging terms in the contract.”
Updates: The 3 members have announced that they will agree to the court rulings on this lawsuit

Idol group SS501 (Kim HyunJoong, Heo YoungSaeng, Park JungMin, Kim KyuJong, Kim HyungJoon) has shown their best in each of their own fields of activities such as drama, unit activities and musical. They have reunite again after 1 year 7 months for their mini album ‘REBIRTH’.

SS501’s comeback has garnered a lot of attention from many fans thus the album received enthusiastic response as soon as it was released. The music source (mp3) was released at 00:00hrs on 20-Oct, despite the late time, many fans downloaded it. Fans were also enthusiastic towards the album that was released on the same day. SS501 also got into high positions in search engines on 20-Oct.

This album is new in many ways as compared to SS501 previous albums. Instead of having the trend of powerful dance music that idol group uses, their title song ‘LOVE LIKE THIS’ is a pop song with refined melody.

The different feel in this album is due to the incorporation of a new producer. Steven Lee, who previously produced for Japanese group KAT-TUN, V6, German group US5, etc, has produced this album. Title song is composed by Steven Lee and overseas musicians Drew Ryan Scott and Sean Alexander.

Mixing is done by Ken Lewis who preciously participated in albums of singers such as Usher, Kanye West, John Legend, etc.

Leader Kim HyunJoong explained “The music is very different from what SS501 had previously. We put in a lot of effects in order to produce this new album. Member Park JungMin said “We had responses such as ‘So SS501 is also able to sing such songs’. The album is very near is what we had expected it to be.”

Kim HyungJoon said “We are sorry for our fans that we came back with only a mini album instead of an official album. However, this album has been done to close perfection so it wouldn’t disappoint fans’ expectations. We are preparing for our 2nd album.” Making the fans anticipate to it. Their company DSP Media followed up to say that SS501 has already finished recording about 3 songs that were not included in this mini album. They have not decided to include these songs as a repackage album or to include in the official album.

The members who have matured in their musicality, helped in this album by contributing their own thoughts. Kim HyunJoong explained “We produced this album while having a lot of discussions with the staffs. We don’t have much pressure even though the staffs are foreigners. We were surprised as this is our first experience (with working with foreign staff). The result of it is an album with Korean pop style.” Kim HyunJoong added “Because we were greatly involved in this album, our affection for this album is even greater than the rest of our albums. Rather than to follow the trend, we made the album thinking to make a trend with SS501’s own unique style.”

Kim KyuJong said “’REBIRTH’ is an album where there is high involvement by our members. It is an album that was made with our concept.”

In this album, they included one song for their fans called ‘Green Peas’, which SS501 members wrote the lyrics by themselves. This song is like a return gift to their fans that have been supporting them for a long time. Kim HyungJoon also helped with the lyrics for track 4 ‘Obsess’.

Kim HyunJoong said “We will remove ‘idol-like’ feelings through our music. We have transformed into matured men.”

They have changed not only in their music, but in their appearance too. With the release of this album, they also showed photos of their transformation, filled with masculinity.

Park JungMin said “We have changed a lot in our dance, song and appearance. With the determination to be an ‘artiste’, we made anew from the beginning to the end.” 

In fact, SS501 met with many complications until the album was finally released. The song that they was supposed to use as title song was known to be a plagiarized song only after they have finished recording and thus had to redo the album from scratch again.

Members said that it is indeed the case. The members bought a song from a local agent selling foreign composed song in August, and was to use it as their title song. However while recording the song, the original song and melody that they heard sounded like another song.

Park JungMin explained “We thought that it was weird that the melody kept changing. On our way back after finishing our concert in Japan, we heard a similar song on board our flight. It was then that we knew that the song was already released in USA.”

At that time, SS501 has already finished recording the title song. When they realized that the song was a plagiarized song, they had to find new songs for their album again.

And the worse thing is that member Kim HyunJoong paid 8 million won for the song himself. Even though the money was retrieved back, he was almost being swindled off with. For SS501 who had not had much malicious gossip like such since their debut, was almost involved in plagiarism.

Kim Hyun Joong wins the Style Icon Awards

Kim Hyun Joong has taken the #1 spot for the Style Icon Awards. Of course allkpop readers felt differently, as 2PM took the top spot in our poll, but I guess it was inevitable, as Hyun Joong was already leading by a landslide when the poll first went up on the O'live tv website.

Super Junior took the #2 spot which is shocking, only because the ELF were unable to get their idols to #1. Lee Minho landed in 3rd and G-Dragon in 4th. I guess the fashionista has lost his touch this year.

Recently, the members of SS501 talked with reporters about their recent comeback and the subject of leader Kim Hyun Joong's bout with swine flu / H1N1 came up.

Kim Hyun Joong stated that the month of September was a very difficult time for him. At the time, he re-assured others saying everything is fine but now that the H1N1 ordeal is over he revealed how painful it actually was for him. He had constant stomach pains, bowel movements, diarrhea. His body was always hot and had very high temperature readings (104°F). He would cough non stop and had a severe sore throat. However, despite all this, he said the most difficult thing for him to endure was being alone in the hospital room all by himself (he was quarantined for a short while).

Fellow SS501 member Park Jung Min stated that it was a very scary time for them. Not only were they concerned about Kim Hyun Joong's health but there were also added stress / concerns over their upcoming album.

Kim Hyun Joong reassured everyone that he's completely recovered now and that he has worked very hard on the album with his fellow SS501 members. They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Fans of kpop quintet SS501 have patiently waited around a year and seven months for their boys to return to the stage and now their wait is finally over! Though their initial glorious comeback was delayed for a baseball game, SS501 treated their fans to a MV teaser for their comeback single Love Like This.

After successfully teasing us with the song & MV preview, the boys debuted today on Music Core much to the delight of their dedicated fans. They performed their comeback single Love Like This with the charisma simply oozing onto the stage. Just as their teaser MV and pictures implied, the boys did not tone down on the guy-liner, yet put on a fabulous performance that had the fangirls screaming for more. SS501's looking hot and ready to take the number one spot on the music charts. After a year and seven months of hiatus, can you blame them?

SS501’s Music Bank Comeback Stage Canceled

Yeah, I hear you snarling at the monitor already.

SS501's comeback stage on the October 23rd episode of KBS Music Bank has been canceled.

Due to Game 6 of the Korean Pro Baseball Series, Music Bank has been canceled. This is nothing new as two of our other favorite music shows Inkigayo and Music Core have also been canceled in the past due to live broadcast of baseball games.

On the official KBS Music Bank website, it was stateed that the October 23rd episode has been replaced with "Korean Pro Baseball Series Game 6," and that performers who were scheduled for the 23rd will most likely perform on the 30th instead.

Don't kill yourselves though. SS501 will still be making their comeback, a day later on Music Core on the 24th and Inkigayo the following afternoon, so all is not lost.

091020 Junsu Secretly Opened Pho Restaurant

T/N: Rough translation for some parts about the dispute w/SM

"Junsu recently opened a new restaurant that serves the Vietnamness cuisine "Pho", in Seoul City." (Korean reporter)

Tohoshinki is in the middle of a dispute with their managing company. On 30th September, the 3 members who filed the case, Jejung (23), Yuchun (23), Junsu (22), went to court, but an agreement could not be reached. The other 2 members did not participate in the case, but they are facing adversity.

"As Yunho's (23) drama ratings are low, so it has been rumoured that it will be cut short. As for Changmin (21) who confirmed his participation in his first drama, at the end of August; at this point in time, there has been no progress in the filming." (Korean TV Station contact).

Also, Junsu has no project of his own, is in a state of "isolation", and he opened a new restaurant in the midst of that.

From 7th September onwards, I saw Junsu coming to the shop for three consequtive days." (Regular customer)

This shop is located in Seoul City, and serves Vietnamness cuisine. This reporter went down to try out the Pho, which is a kind of noodle, and the healthy Pho (T/N: not sure on the meat) is especially popular amongst the OL.

"Junsu was talking to the kitchen staff, and he was having a meeting with them. He didn't exit to the hall, but he was wearing the same outfit on the second day, while he was in the kitchen. I suppose he's helping out in the restaurant?"

So Ji Sup's former manager and TVXQ's close friend Lim Yong Pil are also a part of this restaurant. Previously, Yong Pil was seen frequently meeting up with Yuchun and Junsu privately. On the 6th, he wrote in his homepage, "Finally, I've started a business with my younger brothers (TVXQ)." Also, the part that said, "Managing it with Junsu" raised a lot of interest. (Reporter from a Korean Newspaper).

On the 18th September, Yuchun and Changmin enjoyed their meal there together. Mostly likely to show their support for Junsu. My friend also saw Jejung at the shop on the 11th September.

"The fans don't want the 5 of them to disband. TVXQ is made up of 5 people. Of course, the members and fans have strong bonds, and this thought is something that cannot be disregarded. The members have always been too busy up until now, so this is a 'recharging period' for them before they continue sprinting ahead." (Female, Korean weekly magazine reporter)

After their recharge, the 5 members have a power-up, and we will be anticipating that.

TVXQ fails to reach agreement with SM Entertainment again

Most of you already know that Hero Jaejoong, Xiah Junsu, and Micky Yoochun of TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki are having issues with SM Entertainment. If you don't, you're probably living under a rock... or smoking it. Anyway, the three applied for provisional disposition on July 31st citing unfair terms and conditions of their contracts with SM Entertainment.

The three members, who asked the court to suspend their contracts with the agency, have failed to reach an agreement. We knew on September 15th that talks broke down and that the Seoul Central District Court was going to try to settle the matter again on September 30th. However, the three members refused to negotiate. The Court will not be summoning them again and will reach their final decision... when you ask? Your guess is as good as mine, but I'm thinking it'll be soon... probably some time this month.

It's been around 2 months since this unfortunate situation first took place. The court is about to make a hard decision, whether it be the 3 leaving the company and the group itself, SM spilling the beans, changing their contracts (possibly for all SM artists) and everything going back to normal. Who knows, but I hope for the best. In any case, the decision should come sooner than later so stay tuned for it.

Kim, Ho-young akan memberikan kata sambutan pada reception event di Blitz cafe Pacific Place dan dilanjutkan dengan pemutaran film Seven Days yang tayang pada jam 19.15 (invitation only). Film SEVEN DAYS sepertinya menjadi film andalan, selain BEYOND THE YEARS yang juga terkenal di Korea.

PEMBUKAAN KOREAN CULTURE WEEK 2009

Pekan Budaya Korea atau Korean Cultural Week yang diselenggarakan hingga tanggal 18 Oktober telah resmi dibuka beberapa hari yang lalu. Acara pembukaan yang berlangsung di Balai Kartini, Jakarta menyajikan beragam budaya Korea. Tarian, permainan instrumen, dan nyanyian lagu Korea dihadirkan di hadapan penonton yang juga dihadiri para tamu duta besar negara-negara lainnya di Jakarta.

Jam menunjukkan 17.30 saat duta besar Korea untuk Indonesia, Kim Ho-young, memberikan kata sambutannya untuk membuka "Korean Cultural Week". Ia menyatakan terimakasih atas kehadiran tamu undangan dan pengunjung untuk mengenal kebudayaan Korea. Ia juga mengharapkan acara ini dapat mempererat persahabat Indonesia dan Korea. Sambutan duta besar diikuti dengan tarian Bali dan musik ensembel Bali yang dibawakan oleh kelompok Marusya Chamber Music, pimpinan Marusya Nainggolan.

Acara yang berlangsung selama lebih dari dua jam ini memukau penonton melalui penampilan para musisi dan seniman tari Korea yang didatangkan khusus untuk acara ini, diantaranya Kim Seung Jung yang memainkan alat musik bersenar, haegeum;?Won Jang Hyun, pemain alat musik tiup daegeum sanjo yang menciptakan gaya permainan yang unik dan telah tampil di lebih dari 50 negara.

Ada pula penampilan kuartet? perkusi Samulnori oleh kelompok tari Namsadang. Menggunakan empat instrumen pekusi dan dimainkan dengan gerakan kepala sehingga tali yang ada di atas topi pemain menjadi bergerak-gerak membentuk lingkaran. Penampilan Namsadang mendapat sambutan hangat dari para penonton. Hal serupa juga terjadi saat penampilan kelompok breakdance Korea, Rivers Crew yang memukau dengan atraksi breakdance. Uniknya, tarian mereka diiringi musik tradisional Korea, oleh gayageum ensembel (ensembel dengan alat musik 25 senar), dari kelompok Sookmyung Gayageum Orchestra. Tentu saja hal ini menjadi suatu keunikan tersendiri, penggabungan seni tradisional dan modern yang harmonis.

Acara "Korean Cultural Week" akan berlangsung hingga pekan depan dengan kegiatan pameran hasil bordir Korea yang sangat terkenal, pameran agrikultur, seminar pendidikan, konser musik Indonesia-Korea, dan juga pemutaran film-film Korea.
